This role is for a company that brokers commercial financial products. There are 2 main stakeholder groups. A contact centre team in Northampton and an IT techie team in London.

The CEO is well known for creating online platforms that you’d be hard pushed not to have heard of. This business is like a project for him. How can you take a working environment and twist and turn it on its head. What can make people more engaged? How to make them feel they belong and in turn watch them be more productive.

In an age where home working, and flexible workforces are becoming more common, they have made it work for their people. They have the tech set up to enable people to work from home, if they choose too – and have seen productivity increase. Others prefer the buzz of the office – whatever works best.

There’s little formality and everyone seems natural, upbeat and content. This isn’t a ‘suited and booted’ environment. There are wine dispensers (for Friday afternoons only I’m told), free vending machines (for whenever you need it) pool tables, an industrial style cafeteria with cereal dispensers and then through a small auditorium with a 70″ TV with FIFA being in the background.

So, the role: reports into the Head of Talent, and has 1 report, and is a 12 month FTC covering maternity.

This is a hands-on role focusing on internal Talent (this is not a recruitment role). You will be out there with your stakeholders, really getting to know them. Projects are around talent management, succession planning. Some of these projects are well under way, others are at early stage.

Other projects are dealing with Culture Change, Values Framework, employee engagement, and careers pathways.

To succeed you will of course have experience in the above, and will have strong collaboration and influencing skills to bring in their branding team, and their communications team, while working closely with Recruitment / L&D and the People Partners.

This is a role measured on outputs, not on working 9 -5; it’ll be a rewarding role but certainly not a walk in the park. They don’t want off the shelf solutions they want Talent innovations that will work for them as a business and the individuals in the teams. Even though they are agile on where you work, there are 2 stakeholders that you will be supporting so happy to divide time between Northampton and London.

They’re offering a decent salary c£50 – £55k and a raft of benefits – including shutting the business down a couple of times a year and sticking the team on a private jet for a weekend break.
